Salted Caramel Protein Rice Bubble Squares
Rice crispy treats done the New Zealand way using butter and honey that are known as rice bubbles. The butter and honey create a dreamy, sticky caramel sauce that pairs tastefully with the crunchy rice cereal. Feel free to add a scoop of salted caramel protein powder for extra flavor and nutrients. These bars are so good. They make me feel like I'm back in a fancy overseas bakery..
Servings: 9 Large squares
Instructions:
Start by lining an 8x8 baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.
Now add rice crispy's to a large mixing bowl to use later.
Next add butter, honey and coconut sugar to a medium saucepan over medium heat and bring to a boil; stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
Boil the honey mixture for 1 minute, stirring frequently and then remove from the heat.
Quickly stir in 1 scoop of Just Ingredients Salted Carmel Protein Powder with a whisk until smooth if using.
Poor the hot mixture over the rice crispy treats and fold the two into each other using a rubber spatula until the cereal is completely covered in the caramel sauce.
Dump the coated rice cereal into the prepared baking pan lined with parchment paper and evenly spread out to the sides of the pan.
Sprinkle the top of the bars with sea salt flakes and let the treats cool for 10-15 minutes.
